Delphine & Audrey, artisans d’Art nacriers

This eleventh interview, takes us to Tréguier to meet Audrey and Delphine. Discover the portrait of the two sisters who had only one dream: to work with their hands.
Published on 26 January 2023

Parole de Breizh, invites you to discover the Pink Granite Coast through encounters with those who live Brittany, transform it, cultivate it. These ambassadors are craftsmen, artists, producers… but above all, inhabitants of the Trégor. They love the Pink Granite Coast and explain to you why cultivate the essential!”

After having been a nurse and then a product specialist in orthopedics for Delphine and in the luxury hotel industry as well as primary education for Audrey, the two sisters changed their trajectory.

“We trained with a master pearl maker, once we had our diploma in our pocket, we decided to return to the Pink Granite Coast and more specifically to Tréguier in order to get back in touch with our roots. We were born in Brittany and we are proud to bear the name of our grandfather, the last sea guard of the semaphore of Port-Blanc in Penvénan.”

What is YS PARIS?

Delphine and Audrey are installed in Tréguier in their workshop rue Colvestre since 2017. There, the two women create pieces as unique as they are sublime in abalone mother-of-pearl. Their brand, Ys Paris, is also a nod to Brittany and the sunken city off the Breton coast.”

What do you produce with this abalone mother-of-pearl?

“Jewelry, pieces for art archetery but also decorative objects for designers. Unique and refined creations that have allowed us in 2019 to be selected to represent France at an art festival in Kuwait. A beautiful victory in our desire to give a breath of life to a dying profession, pearl maker.”

Can we visit your workshop?

“Yes, of course! During a walk in the city center of Tréguier, do not hesitate to push the door of our workshop, at the foot of the cathedral, to discover this singular know-how around a demonstration. We will be pleased to discuss with you our profession of pearl maker and to reveal you some creations. This moment of sharing will allow you to understand how an abalone can be transformed into jewelry, decorative objects or even wall facing.”

Cultivating the essential

What does the phrase “Cultivate the essential” inspire in your business?

“Our wish from the beginning was to use mother-of-pearl from Brittany and to have an environmental approach. We do not use chemicals. Everything is done by hand, with precision utensils such as diamond cutters or even grinding wheels.”

“Our creative universe of Ys Paris, is intimately linked to the marine environment”
