Graduated from the graphic arts college Estienne, Eric Poilpot worked 10 years with renowned bookbinders in Paris.
He has been self-employed for 20 years and for the past 2 years, Eric has found his family ties by settling in Treguier.
His job
“There are not many of us doing this job,” explains the man who treats some 1,000 books a year for private individuals, bibliophiles or communities (civil registers, for example). All the books that are entrusted to him for restoration are sewn by hand, it is the only way to preserve the heritage and the written word.
Why this profession?
The choice of this profession is not by chance, he confides to us, “As a child, I was always surrounded by books.”
Its knowledge
To share this know-how, Eric Poilpot offers courses. In his workshop, one can meet private individuals, students from the Savina High School in Tréguier or young bookbinders that he accompanies in their professionalization.
