Côte de Granit Rose puts company visits in the spotlight

Translator

For the 4th edition of the “Semaine du Tourisme Économique et des Savoir-Faire”, the companies and craftsmen of the Pink Granite Coast open their doors and let you discover their trades and know-how!

What are the economic tourism and know-how weeks?

Know-how and industrial heritage are key factors in the development and appeal of tourism. With this in mind, the Côte de Granit Rose Tourist Office has decided to take part in the first regional edition of La Semaine du Tourisme Économique & des Savoir-Faire en Bretagne, from October 21 to November 3, 2024.

The aim of the event is to invite the public, whether tourists or residents, to discover or rediscover the behind-the-scenes stories of the companies and craftsmen who make up the region’s identity.

The Pink Granite Coast, land of innovation and talent

With Lannion as the economic capital of the Trégor region, the Côte de Granit Rose is a major economic hub in Brittany. Revealed with the arrival of the telecoms industry in the 60s, Lannion has contributed enormously to the economic and industrial development of the Pink Granite Coast. Indeed, the city is the cradle of telecommunications and numerous digital innovations.

Today, Lannion is home to national and international companies, with a rich and varied network of small and medium-sized businesses. Their diverse activities ensure balanced and sustainable development of the region, at the crossroads of cutting-edge technologies and growth sectors that coexist and expand. These include defense, energy, healthcare, the environment, agrifood, shipbuilding and tourism.

A talent for sharing know-how

Here, innovation is a state of mind, and the region is home to a wealth of talents who love to share their knowledge. That’s why you can push open the doors of companies like : La Distillerie Ar Roc’h, which produces spirits including gin in La Roche-Jaudy, in a former wine and cider trading building, Imprimerie IMPRAM in Cavan, which publishes the newspaper Le Trégor and some fifty other titles, Le Centre de Météorologie Spatiale – Météo-France in Lannion, …

A hotbed of the arts and thought

A singular, enlightened territory from which exceptional beings spring, the Pink Granite Coast has emerged over time as a hotbed of the arts and thought, shaping the destination and contributing to its architectural and artisanal wealth. Tréguier, the episcopal city and former historic capital of Trégor, has a lot to do with this. But the town centers of many other communes are also alive with artists’ and craftsmen’s stores.
In fact, the coastline, and in particular the arrival of sea bathing in the 19th century, as well as the flax, slate, seaweed and stone trades, have long enabled the region to shine, attracting men of letters, scientists, artists and craftsmen.
Even today, many passionate professionals with unique skills are happy to present the secrets of their trade and their handcrafted products. Such is the case of Pauline Le Goïc, who creates or restores stained-glass windows by hand, integrating modern touches, or Louis Chelin, blacksmith and cutler, who will show you all the steps involved in making a knife, as well as Studio Kerwax, internationally renowned for its analog recording studio and its sound museum, unique in Europe.
