The reserve
This 160 ha space represents a singular natural heritage inherited from the Breton agricultural system of the beginning of the last century. Its value is explained both by the physical conditions of the environment (humidity, poverty of the soil, acidity) and by human activities (grazing, mowing, afforestation…).
The successive inventories and registrations found their culmination in 2016 with the classification as a Regional Nature Reserve. The originality of the site is to associate public owners for 36% and private for 64%. All volunteers, the latter are committed to a collaborative development project. The objectives are both to protect the natural heritage, while maintaining human activities, compatible with the conservation of the mosaic of habitats. The variety of environments means a wealth of flora and fauna. To date, 1,200 animal and plant species have been inventoried, some of which are rare or protected. Another particularity is the fragmentation of the reserve, which is divided into 98 non-contiguous parcels. This fragmented perimeter is a step in a global and long-term process.
