Legend has it that John IV, Duke of Brittany, founded it ‘in commemoration of his victory at Auray over his adversary Charles de Blois’. Others claim that it was built by the monks of Bégard. Also known as Notre Dame de Kergonan, after the valley in which it was built, most of the church was rebuilt in 1670 and 1687, with some repairs in 1827.
