As popular with birds as it is with hikers in search of nature and a more secretive Brittany, the Bizien estuary was once home to a small port for seaweed harvesters. Today, nestling at the head of the estuary is the authentic little market town of Pouldouran, which has retained its charm and character. Between land and sea, freshwater and saltwater, the scenery changes with the tides and is home to a specific flora and fauna. A number of hiking trails start from the Maison des talus et des routoirs à lin (house of slopes and flax mills) and take in the estuary and the Bizien valley, as well as the rich rural heritage with its sunken lanes, slope walls and flax mills.
