This bridge, suspended over the Guindy, replaced the old ferry linking Tréguier and Plouguiel in 1834.
The name of the site recalls the Franciscan convent that stood close to the bridge until the French Revolution. It is one of the last witnesses to the development of steelwork in France in the 19th century. Today, the bridge is used by pedestrians and cyclists as part of the GR34 and EV4. The Pont Noir, not far from the confluence, is used by road traffic.
