The Vallée du Ru in Cavan is crossed by the river of the same name, which rises in Kergroas. The ‘Vallée des Arts’ (Valley of the Arts) was born out of the desire of the local councillors to acquire a sculpture each year to liven up this natural area, which has been laid out as a promenade. The first acquisition was a small granite owl, the town's emblem, which stands at the corner of the wash-house.
